|Rescue Me ID: 15-07-17-00361Dude (male)|
Dude is a well-behaved, affection junkie and major clown who will keep you smiling all day long. He is housebroken, walks well on a leash, sits and lies down on command, loves to ride in the car, sunbathe and soak in our pond. He will live happily under your desk and bother no one. He's an indoor dog and not happy alone all day every day, so his ideal new owner(s) will work at home, be retired or able to take him to work or come home at lunch for a short walk or game of catch. Dude is a perfect watch dog - doesn't bark incessantly, lets you know when someone is in the yard or at the door but once the door is open, he is all love. His previous owners moved and left him in the yard. We rescued him, trained him and have loved him for 4 years. We don't have cats, so I don't know how he would respond to a cat in the home. When we brought him home, he walked in and started licking our female dog. They eat next to each other; he is not food aggressive. He is leash aggressive if and only if another dog lunges at him. As responsible bulldog owners, we haven't let him loose in a dog park. We are moving out of the country on August 21, can't take him and looking for a home soon, so we can reduce the trauma with a transition period. (Less)

|Rescue Me ID: 15-06-17-00283Elsa (female)|
Elsa is super sweet with my 2 and 4 year old daughters who are all over her all the time and she is great with me. However, she has claimed me as her own and is aggressive with my husband whenever I am around. She has always had issues with men. She's great with visitors, but a constant male presence is a problem. She's really good with my tween nephews also. She does great at the dog park with other dogs, but I've never had another dog over to our house, so I'm not sure if her dominance would show at that point. I also have no idea about cats. Her birthday is 12/29/13 and she has been well cared for. If you are interested in her, I would like to see where she would be living. We could meet at a neutral place like a park or something and if you feel she is the furbaby for you, I would then like to see where she will be living for the rest of her life. I really love this girl and am heartbroken I have to do this. She is really relaxed and will lay on her bed in the house all day if you like. She also loves to play with toys and run around, so she must have a yard. She does well on walks, but freezes a little when crossing busy streets...she's a bit nervous with chaos. She would be PERFECT for a single lady or a single mother. She's a love! She is protective her her home and will bark like an alarm when someone comes to the door. She will quickly calm when you allow the person in and tell her it's okay. We choose to try to stop this behavior when we are home so she doesn't think it's okay when we are there. Nobody will be approaching your house when you are away. She's a great guard dog. I am not in a hurry to 'get rid of her', but I must find her a new forever home. I'm willing to wait for the right person/people and even willing to give the right person a trial period to see if she works with them. Thanks! (Less)

American Bulldogs can make good pets in New Mexico if they match your IifestyIe. The American Bulldog is an athletic, determined, loyal, and highly devoted breed. American Bulldogs are very affectionate towards children but should be supervised because of their strength. American Bulldogs are very protective of their masters and make great guard dogs. An American Bulldog can do fine in an apartment if it gets enough exercise and is walked daily. Like the English Bulldog, the American Bulldog tends to slobber.
