Chyna has definitely received the short end of the stick, but we are praying that things look up for her. This beautiful 7 years young, Hound mix, was offspring from her owners other pets. She had her for her ENTIRE life, from the moment she opened her eyes, she was in the same home with the same family. Now, 7 years later, her owners are moving, and aren't taking her along. So, here she is, alone, in a loud shelter, hoping that someone notices her. Personality: High Energy

Tarantino, our 2 year old handsome man is single and ready to mingle! This cutie was found as a stray and tied to a poll, and that is how we first saw him. He is super loving, silly, goofy and energetic, and really just wants to be near people. He loves to hug, he thinks he's a lap dog, and we are recommending him for a home with kids 13 and up! Tarantino has lots of energy, energy that he isn't able to expel, living in a shelter, so we want for him to get adopted as fast as possible. Tarantino is tolerant and social with other dogs, but comes off a little pushy first because he is so energetic. We love Tarantino, Please call for more ... Animal ID: 28111234Dawson (male)

American Bulldog Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Low Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Vaccinations Current

Dawson is a 2 and a half year old, 61 pound boy who is waiting for his forever home. He really doesn't want to wait long, so please don't pass him by. Dawson came to the shelter as a stray, after being found in someone's yard. He is very, very, VERY friendly with people... so much so, that he likes to give hugs, and hey, we ain't going to refuse them! He can be timid upon first meeting, but he warms up quickly and becomes very sweet. We sent Dawson to an outside trainer for 'boot camp' for two weeks and we are happy to report that Dawson did really well! Dawson is a friendly (timid at first and difficult to read) and manageable dog for the ... (Read More)right handler. He is not overly affectionate but warms up quickly when he identifies a leader. He is a low energy dog that craves leadership. Dawson was great with strangers and only mildly interested in other dogs, toys and food stimuli. American Bulldog    Age: Puppy

Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

we are looking to rehome our 9 month old American bulldog Baloo. We got him when he was only 11 weeks old but despite that he has always been slightly fearful of any new situations or people. So far he has been good with our daughter but we think he would be most happy in a home without children as he does not know his own strength. He loves tennis balls and likes to play fetch and chase. He enjoys rawhide and any stuffed animal toy. He is not cage trained although he comes with a cage and we recommend trying. He has a bit of separation anxiety and likes to chew. Balloo is a super sensitive dog who needs a little extra time and training ... (Read More)then most dogs. We love him but do not have the time to give him the extra special attention he needs. He gets along well with my mother-in-laws dog but has not been around any others. We feel he would be most happy in a home without children or other animals, except for maybe an older dog to show him the ropes. (Less)

My son acquired him but he is moving away and cannot take the dog with him, both I and my wife are in our 60's and it's too much dog for us plus we travel. He Is spayed, shots up to date, cage trained. Very playful but can be aggressive with strangers but he has never bitten anyone. He gets along with some dogs, never been around small children. American Bulldog Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Zorro is a 3 year old male American bulldog/Pitbull mix who came to the shelter as a stray. We don't know that much about his background, but from what we've seen since he's been here we know he's a really amazing boy. Zorro is sweet, friendly, loving and very affectionate. We like to refer to him as a big mush!!!!!! He is also calm and docile. Zorro gets along with most dogs but does not get along with cats. We think he should be with kids a little older then 9-10 because even though he's docile, he can get a bit active at times.

American Bulldog Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Vaccinations Current

In Long Island, New York, a three-year-old pooch who loves to snuggle and play just can't catch a lucky break. Found as a stray, Tully, an 80-pound American bulldog came into the Hempstead Animal Shelter in 2014 and captured everyone's heart with his amusing antics and electric personality. Sadly, as time went on and no offers of adoption followed, the sad reality of Tully's future landed him in a dangerous position. Tully just can't bear being in a kennel anymore. A Home for Tully Facebook As advocates clamored for help to save Tully, social media connections paid off when Road to Home Rescue Support stepped up to help. And for awhile, it ... (Read More)seemed as if a home, a bed and a family to call his own were soon to be a reality. There were trainers, foster homes and even a promise or two to adopt, but through no fault of his own, Tully's stars have yet to line up in the universe's perfect rescue order. Described as easygoing and just loving to play, sadly most of his life has been in a shelter or boarding situation. Although Tully doesn't bite his nails, the dog's anxiety from a life lived in various kennels has made him very depressed: 'He loves being with people and is a professional cuddler. He thinks he is a lap dog. But when he has to be in a kennel, he is stressed. Tully has spent his entire life in a shelter or boarding and needs out forever. Can you be Tully's family?' Whenever Tully had the opportunity to be fostered in a private home, he spent every moment delighting in what he perceived as his new home. Each time he was returned, it became increasingly more difficult for Tully to adjust back into a kennel; so much so, he broke everyone's heart by trying to refuse to confined again. He has no food aggression, no people aggression, loves to play and embraces human companionship and a backyard, and all that is associated with having a home. And although Tully has had several offers for adoption from around the country, Road to Home Rescue Support says he must stay in the Northeast just in case there is ever a problem. Please share Tully's struggle to find a forever home with friends, family and social media contacts. Sharing makes a difference, and Tully is a special guy with a special story. If Tully can be the only pet in the home, please contact email inforoadtohome@gmail.com, or fill out an application by clicking here. (Less)

American Bulldog Mix    Age: Adult

Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Petey is what every dog should be: loyal, loving, and everyone's best friend. His heart is as big as his handsome blocky head, and all he asks for in return for a lifetime of loyalty is an occasional hug. As a pup, Petey arrived at a firehouse, shut down and wounded physically and emotionally with an unknown, but clearly sad history. One of the firemen took him home and for 5 years Petey knew the love of a family. He lived with another dog and several children, always there for his family when they needed him. Due to personal problems his family could no longer keep him, and he was brought to Adopt-A-Dog in hopes that we could find him a ... (Read More)new family to love. Petey would do best in a home as an only pet, with older children, in a family that will adore him. He loves long walks, naps on the couch, and hugging his people with a big doofy grin on his face.
