In Long Island, New York, a three-year-old pooch who loves to snuggle and play just can't catch a lucky break. Found as a stray, Tully, an 80-pound American bulldog came into the Hempstead Animal Shelter in 2014 and captured everyone's heart with his amusing antics and electric personality. Sadly, as time went on and no offers of adoption followed, the sad reality of Tully's future landed him in a dangerous position. Tully just can't bear being in a kennel anymore. A Home for Tully Facebook As advocates clamored for help to save Tully, social media connections paid off when Road to Home Rescue Support stepped up to help. And for awhile, it ... (Read More)seemed as if a home, a bed and a family to call his own were soon to be a reality. There were trainers, foster homes and even a promise or two to adopt, but through no fault of his own, Tully's stars have yet to line up in the universe's perfect rescue order. Described as easygoing and just loving to play, sadly most of his life has been in a shelter or boarding situation. Although Tully doesn't bite his nails, the dog's anxiety from a life lived in various kennels has made him very depressed: 'He loves being with people and is a professional cuddler. He thinks he is a lap dog. But when he has to be in a kennel, he is stressed. Tully has spent his entire life in a shelter or boarding and needs out forever. Can you be Tully's family?' Whenever Tully had the opportunity to be fostered in a private home, he spent every moment delighting in what he perceived as his new home. Each time he was returned, it became increasingly more difficult for Tully to adjust back into a kennel; so much so, he broke everyone's heart by trying to refuse to confined again. He has no food aggression, no people aggression, loves to play and embraces human companionship and a backyard, and all that is associated with having a home. And although Tully has had several offers for adoption from around the country, Road to Home Rescue Support says he must stay in the Northeast just in case there is ever a problem. Please share Tully's struggle to find a forever home with friends, family and social media contacts. Sharing makes a difference, and Tully is a special guy with a special story. If Tully can be the only pet in the home, please contact email inforoadtohome@gmail.com, or fill out an application by clicking here. (Less)

Petey is what every dog should be: loyal, loving, and everyone's best friend. His heart is as big as his handsome blocky head, and all he asks for in return for a lifetime of loyalty is an occasional hug. As a pup, Petey arrived at a firehouse, shut down and wounded physically and emotionally with an unknown, but clearly sad history. One of the firemen took him home and for 5 years Petey knew the love of a family. He lived with another dog and several children, always there for his family when they needed him. Due to personal problems his family could no longer keep him, and he was brought to Adopt-A-Dog in hopes that we could find him a ... (Read More)new family to love. Petey would do best in a home as an only pet, with older children, in a family that will adore him. He loves long walks, naps on the couch, and hugging his people with a big doofy grin on his face. This low maintenance mush deserves another chance for love, and if you want to be the one to give it to him, please call (914)-273-1674 or go online www.adopt-a-dog.org.
