Rescue Me ID: 17-03-26-00307Sassy (female)
Sassy is very good around my older pets. Purchased her with very good intentions but was recently diagnosed with leukemia and my energy level has dropped terribly. I am 68 and my husband is 71 still working and because of all of the doctors visits its not fair to her to not have me here as often as before. She will be a year old on the 22nd of July. To a very good home only. Hasn't been around children but extremely loving, just wants to play all of the time. We love her dearly but have no choice at this point. To excellent approved home only. Please help me find her a good loving home.

Rescue Me ID: 17-03-25-00264Belle (female)
This pretty lady's name is Belle! She is an American Bulldog that is 4 years old and sweet as can be. She was found at the shelter, and her owner never came back for her. We think that she did not have an easy life before we saved her, so she does need someone that can be patient with her and her need to slowly trust people again. She is great with women and initially hesitant when meeting men for the first time. Once she relaxes, she does fine with all men. She has not been exposed to children in her foster home, but due to her fear of loud noises, we recommend a home with children over the age of 10. Belle does appear to be very curious about cats, so she would also do best in a home without them. At the shelter, she lived with three other large dogs and currently gets along with her American Bulldog foster brother. She should do well with other large animals after a slow and proper introduction. Belle loves to give kisses to her foster parents, ride in the car, play with toys, and relax around the house. She does have a tendency to resource guard, so she needs a family willing to work with her on her security and trust issues. It's not her fault that she has trust and fear problems, but once she feels safe with people, she is a sweet and affectionate girl. Belle is housebroken and crate trained and currently perfecting her basic obedience and leash skills. She is heart worm positive and will need to continue heart worm treatment in her new home. If you are interested in Belle or any of our other dogs, please feel free to email us at: email@example.com. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We highly recommend that our potential adopters fill out an online application as soon as possible, as it greatly expedites the process of finding the right dog for your situation. The adoption app is available on our website (www.bullpenrescue.org) under the 'work with us' tab. If you choose not to fill out an application before inquiring about a particular dog, please briefly tell us about yourself, family, and lifestyle since this will help us determine if the dog you're interested in is a good match. Our dogs are available for adoption nationwide but preference is given to adopters willing to do an in-person meeting. Please understand that our dogs are not adopted on a first-come, first-serve basis, but rather we strive for a 'perfect placement' so we know that they will not be failed again. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-03-19-00365Libby (female)
Meet Libby! Libby is a doll, a doll that likes to play and will play forever. She loves to run and has a lot of energy. She would do great with someone that likes to take jogs or has a pretty active lifestyle. Libby is doing good on her house and crate training. She is way to curious about the cats so she does need a home with no kitties for her to harass. She really is a sweet girl and will make a wonderful companion for someone. Libby's adoption fee is $175. This includes her deworming, dhpp and rabies vaccines, heartworm test and preventive (through date of adoption), flea and tick preventive (through date of adoption), and microchip. |Rescue Me ID: 17-03-14-00075Ranger (male)|
Ranger is not dog friendly. He loves people though. He can be very submissive to new people until he feels comfortable. He needs a home with a dominant owner. He has begun to challenge my authority and I do not feel comfortable because of his size. He listens to my husband without question, just not me all of the time.

Rescue Me ID: 17-02-21-00409Theo (male)
We want Theo to go to a good home where he will be loved and well taken care of. Theo is a little over a year old and we have had him since he was about 8 weeks old. He's short and stocky and weighs about 60 pounds. For the most part is a very sweet and lovable dog. He's always been good with my husband and I but has recently started to get aggressive towards our other dog. It is usually around food but has happened in a few other instances. When my husband and I are around he is a good, sweet dog. But, we travel a lot and are afraid to leave them at home by themselves. They are left outside during the day and usually brought in during the evening. We think Theo would do great as the only dog in a family. He has a big yard now, but seems to get bored. He needs a family that can play with him a lot and be very attentive. He's up to date on all of his shots and very healthy. If you are interested please let us know. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-07-12-00316Violet (female)
I have this big beauty. Her name is Violet. Back in December someone asked us if we could dog sit her for 2 weeks while they went on vacation. We kept her and the person never returned to get her. We have had her since and could not bare to take her to the animal shelter because we are dog lovers. But, she has proven to be too much for our family. One of the dogs we had before her, likes to fight her. We recently had to pay a big vet bill as the result of one of their fights. 3 (big) dogs is just too much for our tiny home and she deserves better than we can give her. She is an 80 pound American Bull dog. All of her shots are up to date. She is house trained and listens very well. She walks great on a leash, loves car/truck rides and loves to be in the outdoors. She does NOT have any aggressive tendencies and LOVES to cuddle. She IS big. She was very sad when her owner left her, and we had to give her LOTS of TLC to make her feel loved again. And we expect that again, as she has grown to love us. She is an inside dog, and she cannot go to someone that will leave her outside. She will wander away, if left unattended. We prefer her to go to a family without small children, because she may knock them down. She is deathly afraid of fireworks and thunder storms, so she needs a solid secure place to be if one of those is happening. She is great with baths. She eats a lot because of her size. This sweet girl will be someone's loyal life partner, and we hope to find that for her. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-04-10-00121Treasure (female)
Treasure is a 3 1/2-4 year old American Staffordshire Terrier/American Bulldog mix (see DNA test results ) that weighs appropriately 50 lbs. She is spayed, UTD on shots and heartworm negative. This sweet pea is potty trained, kennel/crate trained, knows sit, is GREAT with people, good with kids, and tolerates cats. Treasure is good with other dogs, but she has food defense issues, so unless you have experience with that,(feeding separately) we suggest that she is an only dog. Treasure is a snuggle bunny and medium-high energy that loves to play with toys, go on walks (walks well on the leash) and cuddle. Would be a fantastic running/exercise companion! (has participated in a 5K run and did beautifully, totally focused on running). Treasure is an absolutely AMAZING dog that deserves a home of her own! She wants nothing more than a family of her own to love! Treasure was originally a victim of animal cruelty. She spent the first year of her life chained under a house. She was then seized from her owners for animal cruelty. Treasure then went to Aiken Co Animal Shelter and stayed there for a long time while her court case was finalized. After she won her case, she tested positive for heartworms and HeartBeat rescued her and then treated her! Treasure spent a year with our rescue because she kept getting looked over. She is a plain brown dog and no one wanted to give her a chance. Treasure did eventually get adopted, and lived in that home for about 6 months, but she ended up being returned to the rescue because her adopter just couldn't handle a second dog. Treasure did not take being returned well and went into a fit of depression. She has now bounced back and acts more like her normal self, but what she needs to be 100% is to move into another home with another family. Treasure wants nothing more than to be in an actual forever home. She has had the roughest life, and deserves a home of her own. She just wants a place to call her own! Treasure is currently living with a foster home and looking for her forever home! Treasure's adoption fee is $100 and is available for adoption via Shelter Animals Advocates. http://www.shelteranimalsadvocates.org/info/adoption (Less)

American Bulldogs can make good pets in South Carolina if they match your IifestyIe. The American Bulldog is an athletic, determined, loyal, and highly devoted breed. American Bulldogs are very affectionate towards children but should be supervised because of their strength. American Bulldogs are very protective of their masters and make great guard dogs. An American Bulldog can do fine in an apartment if it gets enough exercise and is walked daily. Like the English Bulldog, the American Bulldog tends to slobber.
