Animal ID: 14-10-20-00724Baby (female)

American Bulldog Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

American Bulldog ~ Young ~ Female ~ Medium~ located at the Carroll County Humane Society McKenzie, TN (West Tn) Baby is a super sweet pit girl who found herself in a not good way. She was surrendered to a local animal control facility as a stray and what no one knew at the time was she was prego. The ACO held her as long as possible and then it became very obvious that she was going to have puppies. An emergency foster parent stepped up and agreed to take this pretty girl and help her in her time of need and desperation. Just a few days later, she had her little baby dogs - a litter of 9 but one did not make it. She stayed in foster care ... (Read More)with her children and now the puppies have been weaned and Baby is looking for a home. Baby is about a year old and has super nice doggy manners and loves affection and attention. Other dogs make her a bit nervous, but please remember that for now, Baby sees other dogs as things that will either steal her food or harm in in a variety of ways. She is gradually learning that dogs are also friendly and is relaxing around them. She has nice leash manners and loves belly rubs and pets. While Baby has not lived in a home during her time in foster or currently at the shelter, she will NOT do her business in her living space. She used a doggy door at her foster home from the inside portion of her kennel to the outside, and at the shelter she will hold it until she can get out to run around and play. She will make a terrific dog for a very lucky family. Baby is heartworm negative, current on her vaccines, and will be spayed as soon as her dinners dry up. Please ask about Baby today! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-08-31-00104Roam (female)

American Bulldog Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Needs to be Spayed

Roam was a stray that wandered into the yard starving. Appears to be approximately 18 to 24 months old and has had a litter previously. She apparently was a house pet who had been trained to sit, lay down, and comes to her new name. She loves to be petted and loved on. Taught her to sit and SPEAK before a treat, otherwise will rarely bark unless she senses something. Roam is learning to roll over as well. She took well to a leash and is House broken. Roam is very loving and friendly. She will stay as if depressed if scolded, until interaction is resumed. She has never been aggressive to me or any other human since I took her in my home. I ... (Read More)have observed her getting along well with other dogs, however, if growled or snapped at will attack. She appears healthy and well adjusted otherwise. I have not spayed her or gotten shots yet because she went into heat cycle. That is ending now. She is not pregnant. The situation in my home has changed drastically and I can no longer keep her. I plead for a good loving preferably fenced home, where she will be played with and able to get appropriate exercise, and where she will be a house pet and truly loved. She is happiest as a single pet w/o other animals around. (Less)

American Bulldogs are descended from indigenous English Mastiffs that lived in the British Isles before the arrival of Caesar. Some American Bulldogs can jump six feet in the air. American Bulldogs have fought wild dogs, bulls, and even fire while defending their masters. The American Bulldog is a much closer relative of the Old English Bulldog than the modern English Bulldog is.
