American Bulldog Mix    Age: Puppy

American Bulldog ~ Young ~ Female ~ Medium~ located at the Carroll County Humane Society McKenzie, TN (West Tn) Baby is a super sweet American Bulldog girl who found herself in a not good way. She was surrendered to a local animal control facility as a stray and what no one knew at the time was she was prego. The ACO held her as long as possible and then it became very obvious that she was going to have puppies. An emergency foster parent stepped up and agreed to take this pretty girl and help her in her time of need and desperation. Just a few days later, she had her little baby dogs - a litter of 9 but one did not make it. She stayed in ... (Read More)foster care with her children and now the puppies have been weaned and Baby is looking for a home. Baby is about a year old and has super nice doggy manners and loves affection and attention. Other dogs make her a bit nervous, but please remember that for now, Baby sees other dogs as things that will either steal her food or harm in in a variety of ways. She is gradually learning that dogs are also friendly and is relaxing around them. She has nice leash manners and loves belly rubs and pets. While Baby has not lived in a home during her time in foster or currently at the shelter, she will NOT do her business in her living space. She used a doggy door at her foster home from the inside portion of her kennel to the outside, and at the shelter she will hold it until she can get out to run around and play. She will make a terrific dog for a very lucky family. Baby is heartworm negative, current on her vaccines, and she was spayed today. Update as of 11/26/14 by Babe's prior foster mom, Lisa Oatsvall - cell 731-499-0739. Babe was alone to roam a small town her entire life until this past July. She had a litter of puppies in the wild and locals could never locate them. Babe was caught by ACO and was pregnant at time. A local gentleman took care of Babe during her time in the local high kill pound and pleaded for rescue assistance. Another volunteer friend lives in the same area and was desperately wanting to help Babe and Jimmy however it is not simple finding a place for a mom dog about to drop a litter. I told her to bring Babe on to my kennel. I have fostered 100s of dogs but never had a chance to have a mom give birth in my care until Babe and her babies. I love her and I adored her little ones. It killed me when they left my care. Babe had to leave about 3 weeks before the pups because it was time for this to happen. I went on many walks with Babe on a leash and I never trusted Babe off the leash. It is of my opinion from close personal care of Babe for several weeks that she be primarily an inside dog due to her short coat and that she have adequate containment while she is outside. I fear with her living a greater portion of her life wandering around that she could possibly not know better than to leave a yard without a fence. Babe longs to be loved and to be with her person. When you hug Babe she is so happy she makes a little snore sound. Please call me if you have any questions about this great girl. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-11-10-00204Lily (female)

American Bulldog Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

I'm a 9-Month old PetSmart Puppy class graduate! I'm a pretty girl with one green eye and one blue eye. I think I am a Pit Bull Terrier and probably mixed with American Bulldog due to my spots and hair texture. I play similar to a boxer/American Bulldog pup-using my arms. I LOVE to play. I'm playful and energetic but have settled quite a bit and am learning quickly how to calm after excitement and I am also responding well to redirection. I've been with my foster parents since 8/30/2014 and have matured greatly. I listen to 'no', 'leave it', 'drop it' and I also know 'down'. I can also sit, shake and lie down when cued. I'm not allowed on ... (Read More)furniture but I would make a great cuddle buddy if my new home allows it. I love to love and be loved so I follow everyone around-including my foster fur-sister and fur-brothers. They are a lot older than me and are teaching me the rules of being a good puppy and I am catching on and playing well with them. I'm not sure if I like cats in the same house as I have no experience, my previous owners said I didn't but so far I don't show any interest in the neighbor's outdoor cats when they come near. I'm great in the crate, no accidents overnight or during the day. I know to potty outside and I now go to the door to let my people know I have to go out. I like riding in the car, playing with my ball and rope toy, I love to interact with people once I warm up-I'm a little timid when I meet some people, and am learning how to go for walks without pulling. I tug on the leash a little but I am getting better. I want a home where I can play and be shown attention and affection by my owners and siblings/fur-siblings. My last home wasn't able to give me attention and care for me like a pet so you'll need to be patient with me as I continue to learn. I don't want to be tied up so I'd be a good indoor pup and I would also do well being indoor most of the time and getting to play outside freely. I play outside for hours! I'm a good girl and if you'd like to meet me, I'll make myself available to play with you and see how we hit it off! You're going to love me! I'm spayed and have all my shots. My foster mom will get me a microchip when I have a home to go to and I have my own belongings to bring with me. You'll only need to love me and work with me to keep up my good habits. I am ready for my forever home when I find the right fit! If you aren't a possible forever home, thanks for reading and please help me spread the word so I can find my forever people. If you are interested and would like more information, or to meet me please contact Shealin, my foster mom at 731-225-6817 (Less)

American Bulldog    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs

Health: Needs to be Neutered, Needs Vaccinations

Look at those eyes. Edgar can melt your heart with his expressive, gold eyes. He's sweet, attentive and seeks affection. He will be a great companion for a family. He's happy to play or to chill. But mostly he just wants to be loved. He is so silly. Poor boy obviously came from a neglect situation and still wolfs down food like it is the last bowl on earth. He is learning that people are his friends and the ones that bring the good stuff. With a little more attention and more food in his belly he will become your number one fan. When he is out in the exercise pens he is better with other dogs around, but he is a little more territorial in ... (Read More)his kennel. She likes to bully the other dogs to see who will buck up to her. She needs someone who knows the breed to take her under their care and if they have other dogs not to have an alpha or other challenging dog in the household.     The American Bulldog thrived in the colonial American South due to settlers' problems with feral pigs. American Bulldogs were their best means of controlling the pigs. American Bulldogs are descended from indigenous English Mastiffs that lived in the British Isles before the arrival of Caesar. The American Bulldog is a much closer relative of the Old English Bulldog than the modern English Bulldog is.
