We now have another child on the way and she has just become too headstrong to keep around. Also, recently she has NOT tolerated other animals. She likes all people ONCE SHE WARMS UP to them, HOWEVER, in the 3 or 4 minutes it takes her to warm up, she can be rather intimidating. 1018111 'Nitro' a gorgeous, black and white, male, Adult, bully mix. Intake date 4-2-13. Nitro was brought in on a Rabies quarantine. Was in a dog fight, brought in with numerous cuts/lacerations/abrasions, he was treated for his wounds and remained in quarantine. After the quarantine hold was up Nitro's owner did not want him back. He is very people friendly, no dog aggression seen when walking outside of his cage, some cage aggression seen, he is very focused on cats (no cat household would be best). Nitro came down with upper respiratory infection, which was treated. We heartworm tested him and he came back positive. We did have a vet ... Our concerns at this point is Nitro is becoming cage crazy, over the past 48-72hrs he is constantly licking the walls and cage door, he is getting very frantic. He is unable to run in the 'spree' area due to his heartworm treatment. He is not handling the cage rest very well and really needs to be placed in a home environment with lots of love and attention. We have a small inside dog (mini poodle) but she is not friendly with other dogs. We had him as an inside dog (separate from our mini poodle) for a few months while we built him a safe dog house. In this time he was crate trained and house broken. Since then my wife and I have had a baby and with that and the new house, finances have been tight. We did manage financially to ... My wife and I discussed it as a family and we decided that with me working a full time job and being a full time student as well, her having responsibility for our infant daughter all day and our finances being in a rut, the best thing for us and our Gibbs would be to find him a new home. He is cooped up in his dog house all day because I am rarely home and my wife cannot handle him with the baby and he is just not happy. Nor do we want to have him in those conditions because of troubles on our part. He is a great dog and deserves to be happy. My family loves him very much but we also want to do what's best for him. Our Requirements For a New Home: 1. MUST have a fenced in yard. He LOVES to run and WILL run away if not contained or on a leash. 2. A home where he will be kept as an inside dog. He is afraid of thunder and does not do well as an outside dog (even when it is not raining). 3. A home with Children over the age of 10 or no children at all. He is a gentle boy and super sweet but he often times doesn't know his own strength. We have a one year old and he constantly knocks her over and scares her (with his big bark or by licking her face). He DOES NOT bite and IS NOT viscous in any way though. 4. NO CATS or Small Dogs! The owner of the facility tried to separate the fight and he ended up with a big hole on his arm. It got infected and he had surgery. American Bulldogs can make good pets in Florida if they match your IifestyIe. The American Bulldog is an athletic, determined, loyal, and highly devoted breed. American Bulldogs are very affectionate towards children but should be supervised because of their strength. American Bulldogs are very protective of their masters and make great guard dogs. An American Bulldog can do fine in an apartment if it gets enough exercise and is walked daily. Like the English Bulldog, the American Bulldog tends to slobber.
